For over six years, Loblaws® Humbertown was like a second home to Grocery Manager Christine Jardeleza. So, when she heard it was closing for renovations, she was stunned. “When I first found out that the store was closing down, I couldn’t believe it,” Christine recalls.
Now, standing inside the completely revamped space, that disbelief has turned into pure excitement. “I’m back in the store and I am in awe of with how transformative it looks,” she says with a huge smile. “It’s phenomenal!”
The change is truly something to see. The old store was small and cozy, a place known for its tight-knit community feel. The new Loblaws Humbertown keeps that same friendly spirit but wraps it in a bigger, brighter, and more modern package. Sleek new tiles, eye-catching signs, and shorter aisles make shopping easier and more enjoyable.
What is Christine most excited for customers to see? “We have more variety to shop, more things to see!” she explains. She recalls how the meat and seafood department was smaller and now the store even offers fresh lobster! There is also a brand-new full service floral department and an expanded bakery department now offering a variety of breads. She points to a whole aisle now dedicated to Natural ValueTM products and an expanded multicultural section, giving shoppers more choice than before.
For those looking for a quick and healthy meal, the options are endless. A new Bento sushi counter and a fresh salad bar offer great options for lunch. “There are so many more options for a quick lunch or snack,” Christine says, gesturing to the grab-and-go section now filled with fresh bowls, sandwiches, pasta, and even pizza. The bakery, meat, and seafood departments have also been expanded, alongside a brand-new full-service floral department.
While the store looks different, its heart remains the same. For Christine, what she’s looking forward to most is reconnecting with the community. “I’m looking forward to seeing new faces and welcoming back our regulars,” she says.
That personal connection is what makes Humbertown so special. Colleagues know customers by name, and a friendly smile is always waiting in every department. “Our regulars shop here all the time. We know their names and faces,” Christine shares. “They’ve been excitedly waiting for this store to reopen and now, the day has come.”
As the final touches are put in place, Christine thinks about the moment the doors will finally open. “I can’t wait to see the reaction on all the customers’ faces when they see the brand-new store,” she says. “They are going to love it! The wait was worth it.”
