Changing the way Canadians access care

August 8, 2024

It’s after 5 p.m. on a Friday, what started as a light rub or two, has turned into non-stop itching and some, erm…goop? A gut feeling hits – could this be the dreaded pink eye! – but you can't possibly see your doctor at this time. So, now what?

Well, have no fear, because our pharmacists are here!

With extended hours and expanded services, many of the pharmacists in our network can provide immunizations and treat and prescribe for minor ailments such as pink eye, urinary tract infections and more.

We have also launched our Pharmacy Care Clinics, which are making a real difference in the lives of Canadians, particularly in stores where a full redesign of the pharmacy space has taken place. Care Clinics feature additional clinic rooms (including a child-friendly space with vibrant colours and interactive games), a new dispensary layout and a care concierge to guide patients through their clinic visit. We are thrilled to provide a special environment designed specifically to make patients feel more comfortable – truly putting the patient experience first.

We have opened 100 clinics so far, with plans to keep the momentum going!

As we collaborate with communities to identify their needs, operating these care clinics is drastically changing how pharmacy care is delivered in Canada. In areas where we do not have clinics, pharmacists can still assess and prescribe in the existing pharmacy space.

So, the next time you're worried about an itchy eye, don't panic because we're here to help (but also, try not to rub your eyes too much!).
