Montréal, Quebec – December 11, 2025 – It’s now official: a new Maxi store has opened its doors on François-Cleyn Street in Huntingdon, marking the milestone of the banner’s 200th store. Mayor of the municipality André Brunette, municipal councilors and Maxi and Loblaw leaders were joined at the opening ceremony by Martin Matte, the face of the banner’s advertising campaigns for almost a decade. Matte also took the opportunity to spoil a few lucky customers with Maxi gift cards, adding a special touch to this day of celebration.

Representing a multi-million-dollar investment, this new store measuring just over 22,000 square feet has created around 60 new jobs and provides simplified access to quality and exceptional value for local people.

In addition to the festivities, Maxi took the opportunity to hand over a cheque for $50,000 to the Martin-Matte Foundation. Made on behalf of Maxi and several of its valuable vendor partners, this significant donation highlights the importance of supporting people who have suffered head trauma or spinal cord injury, a cause close to the heart of Martin Matte.

At the local level, to mark this opening and to show her eagerness to actively support the community, store manager Julie Robidoux chose to give a $2,500 donation to La Bouffe Additionnelle, an important organization in the region that fights against food insecurity.
