Vishranti’s summit to leadership
March 5, 2026

Vishranti Pandya is the kind of leader who listens first and acts second. As a Pharmacist and Associate-Owner at a Shoppers Drug Mart in Calgary, Alberta, she has learned that trust isn’t won overnight, it’s earned by understanding people’s needs and showing up consistently. “The only way I can gain their trust, is to provide what they are looking for, she says.”
Born and raised in urban India, Vishranti grew up in a household where hard work and independence were non-negotiable. Her mother, a lawyer, instilled early lessons that still guide her: “Work hard. Be independent.” These values shaped her path from international pharmacy graduate to Associate-Owner in Calgary’s East Village.
Her early career in a small Alberta town taught her patience and humility. “For the first three months, I listened. I learned patients’ names, medication preferences, and small details, like easy-open caps,” she recalls. Even when a patient said, “I don’t know if I should trust you with my life,” she remained steady, showing care and consistency. Over time, she earned their trust and helped her store become a recognized pillar of local healthcare.
In Calgary, Vishranti leads a team serving a busy, diverse community. She treats every patient with equal respect: “Everyone who walks through the door is the same to me. It doesn’t matter if they’re in a suit or coming from the shelter. They receive the same care.” Her leadership fosters an inclusive, judgment-free environment where team members feel encouraged to bring their own perspectives and strengths.
Mentorship is at the heart of Vishranti’s leadership approach. Inspired by advice she received early in her career to seize opportunities rather than wait for the perfect one, she now pours that same encouragement into her team, helping them build confidence, step into leadership roles, and grow in meaningful ways. She believes that investing in others creates a ripple effect, strengthening both individuals and the community they serve. “Supporting others and sharing what I’ve learned always comes back in ways you can’t measure,” she says.
These experiences also influence how she marks International Women’s Day. She believes that when people commit fully to a goal, even the impossible can feel within reach. For anyone who feels different or uncertain, her advice is simple: “Take the opportunity when it comes, ask questions, don’t assume. Your perspective matters, and it can make a real difference.”
Outside of work, Vishranti is an avid mountaineer, climbing peaks such as Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Aconcagua in Argentina. “The mountain is never just physical, it’s psychological”, she says; “You never leave anyone behind.” That mindset shapes her leadership: steady preparation, resilience under pressure, and a commitment to supporting her team through every challenge.
Through her dedication and care to patients, her team, and her community, Vishranti continues to build trust in meaningful ways, proving that leadership is less about the summit and more about how you help others along the climb.
